My #WriteMotivation has Gone Up And Went

I Found Florida Fall

I found Florida fall, it was at my parents’ house the whole time!

I hope everyone had a grand Thanksgiving. Mine was mediocre. My dad had scheduled surgery to fix an aneurysm. It was a blessing, really, caught by accident. The doctor watched it for the last 5 years, but it has grown enough to warrant surgery. So he had it scheduled and it was only supposed to be an overnight stay. But his heart rate wouldn’t go down. So they kept him for several more days after. Then, they found a “shadow” on his lung in an x-ray. He’s already had 1/3 of his right lung removed because of lung cancer from Agent Orange. Of course I was worried. But I couldn’t break down. No I had to stay strong for my mother. But I was so angry at my father for starting up smoking again!

Luckily, it was nothing and they finally released him from the hospital a few days before Thanksgiving. So we decided to make a smaller dinner and bring it over to my parent’s house.

I am thankful that my dad was released, and the scare we had was just that…a scare.

TheHubs almost didn’t make it. His pain levels have increased, and being sick didn’t help. I lost it in front of TheBoy. I hate the pain! I hate what it does to my husband and how it takes him away from so much of our lives.

But he managed to go, albeit he was asleep most of the time. But he was there.

I am thankful for that.

On my time off, I got to play Halo4 and finish the story. I’m very ticked with the ending! Cortana is my favorite and I was so mad at 343 Industries I cried! I also manages to play some multiplayer with TheBoy. And I continued with my Assassins Creed 3 story. Aside from the gaming, we are also gearing up for TheBoy’s birthday party, going to Doctor’s appointments, and paying all that mess.

So, it wasn’t too much of a relaxing vacation. But my arm managed to heal a little. It doesn’t hurt AS MUCH. But the pain is still there.

I’m thankful for that as well but will probably be going back to the doctor as he never did address the shoulder aspect, just the elbow.

So, yeah, my November #WriteMotivation goals have pretty much stagnated. I guess it’s a doubly good thing I don’t do NaNoWriMo! 🙂

My Golden Rule On Writing First Drafts

1) Progress — Since my last post, I’ve finished the latest chapter, but I am not happy with it. I don’t know exactly HOW things should progress to the point I need them to be. I haven’t written while on vacation either, since I needed to give my arm a rest. Oh well. I really, REALLY, wanted to finish the book before the end of the year. Not looking good on that front, no matter how close I am. Guess there’s always next year. *cries*
2) Read another book —  COMPLETED! I finished How To Be Pirate, 2nd book in the How To Train Your Dragon series which prompted TheBoy just finish the 2nd Percy Jackson book so now I can continue that series. Now he wants the 3rd book. YAY!
3) Provide unending support for #writemotivation — FAIL! I’ve been away from all social media because of the job and the pain.
4) Write blog posts for both #writemotivation and a few others, if I can think of some.  FAIL! This is the second one I’ve done for this month. I just don’t have it in me.

That last line of my image: Progress. Don’t regret. Well, that’s kinda hard for me this month.

I hope to be better next month…or at least for January’s #writemotivation goal check!

sending love your way. i definitely understand about wanting things to be “normal” and feeling the stress when they are anything but. it’s okay to grieve a bit for it; you’re only human. you already are thankful for what you have so i don’t need to remind you of that.we’ll all be here to kick your butt in gear after the holidays when you need to get back to writing. give yourself a break for now.

  2. Ping from LadyJai:

I really love ALL of you! You are so supportive and always, ALWAYS show me the love! Thank you so much!

  3. Ping from Rebekah Loper:

*hugs* take some time and focus on your family. You and I both know how hard it is to juggle things like that and keep up a non-dramatic front on the internet, let alone any front at all. I’m praying for you guys, and you know I’m just an email away if you need anything.

  4. Ping from Cheyenne Campbell:

Thanksgiving is a time to be with family, when possible, and you did just that. You can’t be everywhere and do everything at once, and you got that family time in and held things together for your parents and your own family. Go easy on yourself 🙂 You certainly deserve it. Glad to hear the arm is *slightly* better though praying it heals all the way, and soon. It’s great to have goals because they motivate us to work a little at a time, but I’ve the same goal – to finish my draft by the end of the year. If it doesn’t happen, that doesn’t mean it’ll take ANOTHER year… maybe a few weeks. You’re doing awesome. Hang in there 🙂

  5. Ping from M. Andrew Patterson (@DyadicEchoes):

*hugs* You are always supportive and I’m sorry things have been so rough for you lately. 🙁 We’re here for you. Always.

P.S. You haven’t failed anything. You survived a very difficult time the last couple weeks and having chronic pain in your hands is not easy.

  6. Ping from Leigh Caroline:

*hugs* Hey, you made a lot of progress among the complete clusterf*** that was going on in your life. That counts for a lot. I wanted to finish SW this year, but I’m not sure that’s going to happen either. That’s okay. What matters is the not giving up. <3 FWIW, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next!!

  7. Ping from Lynn A. Davidson:

Sending you cyber hugs and love.

  8. Ping from Angela Brown:

Well, all things aside, you did manage some progress amid the chaos. That is really a feat in and of itself. Here’s to hoping that you are able to make more progress and enjoy more good times with TheHubs, TheBoy and the fam 🙂 #writemotivation – not perfect but not out the game 🙂
