My friend, Rance Denton, kindly tagged me in this blog fest. I’m not one to comply with the full rules of any “tagging” fest. Since my work in progress is only on page 54, and page 7 is rather boring because it would be out of context, I will provide my first 7 (or so) sentences. I actually have the first two paragraphs because 7 sentences would put it half way through the second paragraph and just not sound right…
Remember, this is my rough draft and may change in the end. Not sure how you can tell if this is any good or not, but hey, here it goes.
Quinn grabs the fist coming at her face with the palm of her right hand. Twists. Lana face plants on the ground to Quinn’s side. She kneels and lands a gentle punch to a kidney. No need to hurt, this is just practice.
Resetting her stance, Quinn waits for the counter. A slight twitch in Lana’s right leg indicates her intent. Quinn switches her forward footing, averting a sweeping leg. Continuing her motion, Lana brings her leg under her body and pushes herself back into her defensive stance. A few wayward black strands have escaped her ponytail and stick to the dusty sweat on her cheek.
Hope you’ve enjoyed what little I’ve posted.
Here are the rules for the Lucky 7 blogfest:
- If you’re tagged in a post by an author, you can choose to take part (which I hope you do!);
- Go to page 7 or 77 of your current work-in-progress, go down to the 7th line, and post on your blog the next (approximately) seven lines! It’s as simple as that.
- Remember not to cheat! Don’t pick a part you think will be engaging; don’t edit; just post it, show the raw, unedited truth of a writer’s first draft; and
- Tag some of those writers you know would be willing to show a bit of their creativity. So who am I tagging? Friends, fellow writers, people who I hope will take up the challenge, whether they’re writing prose or poetry!
I don’t plan on tagging anyone, never do. But if you are so inclined, go ahead and participate and make sure you link back here so I can read your stuff too.
Oh, and don’t forget to comment! I’d love to hear what you have to say…
