Mother Nature Hates Me and My #WriteMotivation

Solar Flare

Last week was full of natural forces working against me. Mother Nature must have had it out for me in a bad, bad way. And I was feeling every bit of it. On March 6th, the sun released two solar flares sparked a massive CME (coronal mass ejection). “Flares are intense bursts of radiation coming from the release of magnetic energy associated with sunspots.” (NASA) They are made of photons and usually don’t affect earth much. However, when CMEs are released on the side of the sun facing Earth, we could be in danger of  “a billion tons of matter…accelerated to several million miles per hour”. (NASA)  This was the largest NASA has seen since 2006. The CMEs arrived at the earth’s magnetosphere on Thursday morning. This Geomagnetic storm While our GPS, radio communications, and power grids were relatively unscathed, I am not so sure about my drive for writing. Our brains work on electrical impulses, right? So, why wouldn’t this storm interfere with my brain’s ability to fire the synapses properly? Perfectly plausible, right? I’m all for science! Wonder if a study has ever been done on THAT?!

Full moon

March 8th was also a full moon. I’ve always noticed weird and worrisome things happen on full moons. When I used to work as tech support for a local ISP (before broadband), without fail, the most–and weirdest–calls came on the night of the full moon. I’ve heard friends and acquaintances always ask “Is it a full moon?” when nothing would go right for them. There is so much lore involving the moon as well. And early psychologists believed in the “spell of the full moon”. The word “lunatic” also derives from the Latin word “luna”, meaning moon. There was even a case of an English laborer who was acquitted for his crimes because he was “under the spell of the full moon”. (NASA) (And we all wonder why we have werewolves! LOL)

Another aspect that had me down is my hormones. Yes, I’m going there! (Sorry guys!) Before we had our current way to mark the passage of time, we’ve always had the moon to help us keep track, especially us females. So, yeah, I am sure my moon flow ON the full moon makes me even more of a lunatic! And it didn’t help that all those geomagnetic storms were going around and interfering with my chi, chakra, my electro-pulses in my brain, whatever you want to call it.

And ever since the dawn of time, we’ve tied the female menstrual cycle to the moon. But, it has got to be one hundred times worse to have your “moon flow” on the full moon!   Thursday was the worst for me. It all hit at once. And I just couldn’t put it all together. To top it all off, I went to bed with a headache that turned into a migraine when I woke up.

I think I broke that spell, though, when I broke my migraine on Friday morning. Getting up at 4am and taking the medicine made it go away. I felt so much better when my alarm went off at 5am. I was ready to go to work and tackle the day. I managed to put 200 words to paper–much better than the 4 sentences the previous two days got me.

So, as for my #writemotivation goals update for this week, it’s rather pitiful. But hey, I kicked its ugly head into next month and am back on track! My synapses are firing right in my brain, I think. And my moon flow is on its way out–much like the full moon is.

Oh, also, I haven’t sat down to read just yet. But I still have 3 weeks πŸ™‚

Sounds like you guys are getting along nicely on your goals. Oh, and out of this post, another plot bunny reared its head and made me write it down. πŸ˜€

Thanks Grumpy, but I’m just a tad bit busy to do this. I can’t dedicated 100 consecutive days. But thanks for inviting me. πŸ™‚

Once again, swept away by the cosmic tides. Ever have we earthbound female creature been at the mercy of great interstellar forces. sigh…pass the chocolate…

That explains so much! I also felt out of tune with everything last week. those damned geomagnetic storms! and I had several migraines – no fun! you know, when i worked in the psych hospital, we swore that the patients acted out more on full moons. no lie. i’m with you, sister. i think the solar flares done pissed off mother earth and she was flaring right back. hope you have a better writing week.

After working in tech support, I’ve been keeping track of the “full moon effect” and I swear it is so true. Thanks for stopping by!

First off – what an awesome post! I just learned so much! I’m very intune with the environment – I feel very affected by it. Somedays that weighs me down, and others it’s a soulful boost. On the night of a full moon I swear I should be out dancing under it! But – too much rain lately, lol.

Yay to plot bunnies! Scratch those babies behind their ears and give ’em some attention πŸ™‚

Hope you have a great week and that the natural forces give you a bit of a break. It’s well deserved!

    YOU GO GIRL!!! πŸ™‚

darn, the full moon has already passed? I wanted to get a picture of it . . . next month, I guess!
